Seasonal Clerkships
A taste of graduate life - Summer Clerkships
Our Summer Clerkship is a great way for undergraduates in the penultimate year of their degree to get a real idea of what they want from a career in law. A placement here may also lead to an offer to join our Graduate Development Program. A Summer Clerkship offers:
- A chance to assist a partner/senior associate on real matters;
- Two rotations (where possible in areas that most interest you);
- Access to a lawyer “buddy” who can offer advice and help;
- Formal induction, presentations and talks about our work and what you need to be a successful lawyer; and
- Plenty of opportunities to socialise with other Sparkies.
While you’re with us you’ll learn more about our firm and meet partners, associates and trainees who’ll give you an honest view of life at Sparkes.
“The highpoint of my clerkship was making my first appearance in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. It exceeded my expectations as I did not think that “hands on exposure” would extend to me standing before a registrar in the AAT!”
Jaspreet Singh-Bains, 2007/08 Summer Clerkship
“In terms of my personal development, the highpoint was the exposure to a wide range of the work performed by a law firm. From attending court hearings, and sitting in with Barrister’s on conciliations and arbitrations to drafting affidavits and briefs for counsel, I got a comprehensive feel for what a lawyer’s life entails.”
Andrew Mahony, 2008/09 Summer Clerkship
