Seasonal Clerkships

A major reason law students choose our firm is the excellent learning environment at Johnson Winter & Slattery. It is an exceptional place to begin and develop your career.

Our clerkship program is a realistic snapshot of your future as a lawyer at Johnson Winter & Slattery. Your introduction to our firm and the way we practise law will demonstrate why our firm is a superior place to work.

Nationally we look to take on between 18-22 clerks each summer period. During your time with us you will have multiple opportunities to interact with all your peers in all five states (via video conference).

In our Melbourne office we offer a 4 week program over the summer period, the clerkship can be completed during November & December or during January & February.

We seek to recruit our graduates through our clerkship programs. Our clerks and graduates work with senior lawyers across all of our practice areas, giving them the opportunity to develop a broad base of experience early in their legal careers.

We offer clerkships in all our offices - Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

Graduate Program

At JWS we seek to recruit our graduates through our clerkship programs.

Our graduates work closely with senior lawyers across all of our practice areas, giving them the opportunity to develop a broad base of experience early in their legal careers.

Each year our graduates commence in February and complete a 12 month program. This program includes a variety of on the job training, technical training and inter-personal skills training.

Nationally we look to take on between 10-12 graduates.

Recruitment Process

Johnson Winter & Slattery has an established reputation for providing practical commercial solutions and outstanding client service. Our hands on and proactive approach creates an environment in which ambitious lawyers become directly involved in significant opportunities from an early stage.

The selection process for seasonal clerks includes 3 simple steps, these include:

  • An online application form including a cover letter, CV and academic transcript
  • A presentation event where you can learn more about the firm and get to meet a few senior lawyers
  • Finally, a face to face interview with the Professional Development Team and a Partner which gives you the opportunity to ask us any questions you might have.

We seek to recruit our graduates through our clerkship programs.
