Seasonal clerkships

Brisbane offers vacation clerkships to students in their penultimate year. Employment periods are based on university term dates and our requirements at the time.

Length of program

There are two intakes for vacation clerks in Brisbane. Clerkships typically run for a period of four weeks with one program running through November and December, and the second through January and February.

Our recruitment processes are in line with the Queensland Law Society (QLS) Vacation Clerkship Guidelines. Vacation clerkship offers will be made on 14 May 2018.

Number of clerks employed

This depends on business requirements at the time, but numbers are generally 5-10 per intake.

Graduate program

In order to make the transition from university to legal practice, a range of learning opportunities, educational support and professional experience is critical. Our Graduate Development Program assists young practitioners in making the transition and provides a solid basis for future success.

12 month program; Supervised Workplace Traineeship.

Number of rotations

During the program you will work across our key practice areas, completing up to three rotations. One rotation will ideally be completed in a litigation based department.

This depends on business requirements at the time, but generally 3 to 4 per year.

Recruitment process

Vacation clerkships

The selection process for successful candidates will consist of a multi-stage process, which will include a research task and video interview assessment and on-site information and networking event.

Graduate program

Once you have completed a clerkship with Thomson Geer you will be eligible to be considered for a position in our 12 month Graduate Development Program. The selection process considers your feedback and performance results as a clerk.
