Seasonal Clerkships

Melbourne offer summer clerkships to students in their penultimate year. Employment periods are based on university term dates and our requirements at the time.

Length of program

Summer clerkships in Melbourne typically run for a period of four weeks through November and December, and four weeks through January and February.

Time of offer

Our recruitment processes are in line with the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) Traineeship Guidelines. Summer clerkships offers will be made on 12 October 2017.

Number of clerks employed

This depends on business requirements at the time, but numbers are generally 5 or 6 per intake.

Graduate Program

In order to make the transition from university to legal practice, a range of learning opportunities, educational support and professional experience is critical. The Supervised Workplace Traineeship is incorporated into our Graduate program, and assists young practitioners in making the transition and provides a solid basis for future success.

Length of program

One year.

Number of rotations

During the program you will have 3 rotations through our key practice areas, ensuring a solid exposure to litigation and commercial departments.

Number of Graduates

This depends on business requirements at the time.

Recruitment Process

Summer Clerkships

Applications for the Summer Clerkship Program are open from 10 July 2017 – 13 August 2017 and are to be submitted through cvMail.

The selection process will consist of your initial application, an interview and an on-site selection event.

 

Graduate Program

Once you have completed a clerkship with Thomson Geer you will have the opportunity to apply for a position in our Graduate program. The selection process includes an assessment of feedback and performance results as a clerk.
