Seasonal Clerkships

Our Perth clerkship programs are structured to introduce you to all areas of firm life and consist of either a three week placement in summer or a two week placement in winter:

1. Summer intake: November -  December 2017

2. Winter intake: June - July 2018

Clerkship placements can be undertaken in any of our Perth practice areas: Corporate Advisory; Energy + Resources; and Litigation.

During the program you will start to understand the mechanics of legal practice through researching legislation and case law, preparing and drafting memos, observing negotiations, attending court, meeting clients, or perhaps working as part of a deal team. You will also be mentored throughout your rotations by a lawyer who will help you build relationships within each practice group and also teach you more about the law in practice.

Clerks also partcipate in a tailored training program and are invited to various firm events, lunches and social activities to help build relationships with people across the firm.

What are we looking for?

Our lawyer are bright, commercially aware and self-motivated individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit. Our culture, people and values all draw dynamic personalities to the firm, yet there is no 'Gilbert + Tobin type' of lawyer. We are looking for students who are ambitious, bright, friendly and enthusiastic individuals who will thrive in an environment of integrity, respect, innovation and excellence.

Clerkship Recruitment Process

Our program is open to students in their penultimate year of their legal studies. International student applications will be considered.

Successful candidates will be invited to attend an interview workshop in early September 2017.

Graduate Program

We will be following the priority offer system for graduate placements. Our clerkship program forms the core of our graduate recruitment initiatives.

Our 12 month graduate program consists of three rotations of approximately six months each. Rotations are available in all our Perth practice areas (refer previous) and you will be actively involved in non-chargeable work including business development, knowledge management, training and pro bono matters.

At the end of the 12 month rotation period, we will consult with you regarding your placement into a practice group as a junior lawyer.
