Vacation Clerkships

We invite approximately 25–30 penultimate year law students to participate in our annual vacation clerkship program. We run three clerkships per year, a three-week clerkship in winter and two four-week clerkships in summer. Clerks work in one section for the duration of the clerkship.

Our Vacation Clerkship recruitment program is guided by the following timeline:

- Applications close: 9am Monday 20 March 2017

- Online questionnaire completion deadline for all shortlisted applicants: Thursday 30 March 2017

- Information evening for all applicants shortlisted for interview: Wednesday 29 March 2017

- Interview period: Friday 31 March 2017 to Thursday 13 April 2017

- Clerkship offers will be made on Monday 8 May 2017

Recruitment Process

Along with a few short questions about your interest in Herbert Smith Freehills and commercial law generally, your cover letter, CV, and academics, will be used in assessing your application and determining candidates for interview.

If you are invited to a first round interview, we will also ask you to complete our online psychological assessment before the interview. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions, your responses simply provide insight into where your likely strengths lie. Interviews will be conducted by a member of our Partner Recruitment Panel along with a member of our HR Team.

The interview is intended to be a two-way process and provide an opportunity for you to see what it would be like to work with us, as well as for us to get to know you. We want to give you a chance to tell us all about yourself and why you think Herbert Smith Freehills is the right place for you.
